Woody Pitkat may run close to fifty races during the 2009 season, highlighted by a full season run on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour.  This past weekend, Pitkat knocked out three of those events over the Memorial Day holiday.
Pitkat logged a third-place finish at Thompson International Speedway (CT) on Thursday and he then had a disappointing 22nd place result at Stafford Motor Speedway (CT) in the SK Modified feature.  In the WMT race at Stafford, Pitkat overcame a sub-par qualifying effort to score an eighth place finish in the TSI Harley-Davidson Classic.

“We struggled during the day in practice,” said Pitkat.  “We found a bad shock right at the end of the last session.  We had to come from the back after qualifying, it was a good race and we did what we had to by logging another top 10 finish.  After the deal in practice and the not having the best qualifying run, it was good to be able to come away with such a good finish.”

Pitkat currently sits seventh in the Whelen Modified Tour standings after three races.  He will be back behind the wheel of his Tour ride on June 27th at New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NH).

Weekend Tripleheader Results in Two Top 10 Finishes
The weekend started off right for Pitkat as he finished third in the Modified event at Thompson International Speedway (CT) on Thursday night.  However the next night was not any better in the SK’s at Stafford.

“We were good the whole day at Thompson,” said Pitkat. “Our heat race was a little stacked, but anytime you can finish a race nearly four wide is pretty cool.  At Stafford in the SKs, we had some trouble keeping the car in gear.  I spun after I got into another car and while I was sitting there a guy came along and T-boned me like 15 seconds after I stopped.  We were done for the night after that.”

Pitkat will be back at both Thompson and Stafford this up coming weekend. He is currently fifth in points in SK Modifieds at Stafford and tied for third in points in Sunoco Modifieds at Thompson.
