The New England 100 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway was motorized warfare.  Even the winner was decided after a last lap fracas that left two of the top ten finishers riding along the wall on two wheels.  Still, Woody Pitkat managed to get through the time unharmed and with a strong ninth-place finish.
“It was up and down,” said Pitkat of his day.  “I mean, we started 19th, drove to like 10th.  We were really loose and obviously we had that 60 lap green flag run, so I fell back to like 14th and I lost the lead lap pack.  I was just cruising around, trying to wait for a caution.  When a caution came out, we came in and we pitted.  We did good in the pits, we came out and we restarted fourth.  I tried to get on the bottom and got hung up on the bottom and the car was just too tight.  Then there at the end we went from one extreme to the other.  We were too loose and then we were too tight.  We didn’t hit the happy medium.  We got in a wreck and had to fix the toe and missed the big wreck at the end there.  We salvaged a top ten and it’s pretty good the day today was.”

Woody Pitkat Grabs a Ninth-Place Finish at New Hampshire
Weekend Ends on a Good Note at the "Magic Mile"
Posting his third top ten finish in four starts this season has allowed Pitkat to move up into the ninth place position of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour point standings.

“We’ll just start clicking [races] off every week instead of having a month off.  We’re in pretty good shape, the car is still in one piece.  The other car is ready to go.  I just want to try to keep being consistent, finishing good and getting more seat time.  The biggest thing is trying to get one year under my belt in the tour.  Don King is giving me the opportunity to do that and I’m going to try to just do the best I can with it and see how we can do.”

The next race for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour will be on Saturday, July 11th at Spencer Speedway (NY).
