Woody Pitkat might have started deep in the field for Saturday's NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, but he had no intentions of finishing there.  Pitkat started the race in the 30th position and moved up quickly from there.
Unfortunately, Pitkat ran into trouble on his march towards the front and damage from a late race incident left him with a finish of 26th.
“It got frustrating out there,” said Pitkat.  “We started in the back.  I know that I can race well, I just can't time in very well it seems.  So we were picking them off one at a time and it seemed like everyone was pretty anxious because there were a bunch of wrecks.  So I'd pick off some cars and get spun, pick off some cars and get spun.  It was no big deal.   Until we came into the pits, went back out and it felt like the sway bar was broken off.  So I was driving with a broken sway bar and the car was a handful.  We came back in and took on tires and we just hanging on.

“We were still going to have a solid top 10 finish and I don't know what Ryan Newman was thinking.  I don't know if his spotter just didn't tell him that I was there or what, but he took me out.  Nobody's perfect and that showed right there.”

The WMT race at New Hampshire was Pitkat's third event of the weekend.  On Thursday night, Pitkat finished fourth in the Sunoco Modified feature at Thompson International Speedway (CT).

“Thompson was challenging because we didn't get to practice since we were up here.  But I was fortunate enough to have a teammate like Kelly Malone to take my car out and get it as close as he could.  It was the same thing down there though.  I got spun with 15 laps to go and had to battle back through the field.”

On Friday night, Pitkat finished third in the SK Modified race at Stafford Motor Speedway (CT).

“Last night was the only real night without drama for me.  Teddy [Christopher] and Keith [Rocco] were battling and I tried to stick my nose into that, but I didn't want to come home destroyed.  So that was just a good solid podium finish.”
Also on Friday night, Pitkat finished 14th in the Late Model feature at Stafford.
