Woody Pitkat and the #28 King Racing team hit the track at Bristol Motor Speedway (CT) on Monday to take part in an open test session for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour race that is scheduled there on August 19th.
“It was fun and very exciting,” Pitkat said of the test.  “At first, when I saw the place, it was a little bit nerve-racking.  When you walk on the track and look at the banks, it seems overwhelming.  But I talked to Todd Szegedy (who tested there previously) and he was a great teacher.  He gave me some pointers and once I got used to the track, it was fine.  He told me to take it easy and not use too much brake.  By the end of the day, I wasn't using any brake.

“The track is pretty crazy, but I'm looking forward to coming back there for the race because I think that we'll be pretty good there.  We ran a 58-lap segment and we very consistent.  The car never really changed and that made me very happy.”

Pitkat's Bristol test put a period on a weekend at various tracks that was busy, but could have been even busier.  Pitkat finished second in the Thursday night Sunoco Modified feature at Thompson International Speedway (CT) and then got rained out the next night at Stafford Motor Speedway (CT).  Still wanting to see some racing action, Pitkat then headed up I-91 to Twin State Speedway (NH), where he got to watch the True Value Modified Racing Series main event.

This week, Pitkat plans to race at Thompson on Thursday and Stafford on Friday - weather permitting of course.  The last two weekends of racing at Stafford have been rained out and there is a chance of rain again his weekend.

“I really hope that we get this race in,” said Pitkat.  “The more time that we take off, it seems the crazier everyone gets.”
