“I do not think that the track was that good for the race. I think that they may have lost the track after it rained. There was no outside groove and no body was really passing the whole night. It was a long day and with the race delay you had to sit around waiting to get going.

“At one point there was caution after caution. It may have had to do with the long day and the rain. Everyone was sitting around and wanted to get going and then they knew that had to take it easy in case Even though they dried the track you had to take it easy just in case.”

Pitkat ended up finishing 17th in the WMT race.

With only one lap remaining in the SK race, the rain started coming down. The race was called and ended with a red/checkered flag finish.

“The rain changed the surface of the track.,” said Pitkat.  “TC was awfully fast obviously, but I would have liked to see what would have happened if we ended the race under green.. I really think I had something for him. I don’t know if I would have won but I would have liked to try.”

Pitkat was very appreciative for the chance to be racing.

“I really want to thank my car owners and their faith in me.”

After completing the SK race, Pitkat took part in another event that he was thankful to be a part of.  He jumped into the #88 Don King-owned NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour car as a teammate to James Civali.

“That was something that we put together quick with TSI who backs my SK car,” said Pitkat.  “I called them to see if they wanted to do something. Then we just put the car together and went out. The car was really good. I was very happy with it. I had timed really good with it. I was happy with the car the first 50 laps. I was really good with riding around for lap counts. I could have pressured the issue a bit more but I was just trying to get in the rhythm. It really took about 50 to 60 laps to get into the groove.

“When I had to pit we had a thin crew because James was the first priority for the team. Then the car started to fade, I do not know if it was tire compound or what. All and all it was an Ok day. I wish I could have done better though. “

The track surfaced had changed with the rain and that did not work in Pitkat’s favor.

Woody Pitkat had a night of double duty Modified racing at Stafford Motor Speedway (CT) this past weekend.

Up first was the 40-lap SK Modified race where Pitkat inherited the lead on lap 11, but fell behind Ted Christopher was just a few laps remaining and had to settle for a runner-up finish.

“I think that we are struggling right now with tires a little bit,” said Pitkat.  “It was sort of a busy day and we really didn’t have any practice with the SK.  Something broke before we went out to practice and we had to fix that. So to finish second, we should be happy.”
