“The transmission broke,” said Pitkat. “I was trying to hold it in high gear, but it didn't last. The car was good and even though the DNF is a negative, they way we were running was a positive. We just can't keep giving away wins and top five finishes like this though.”
Pitkat was credited with a finish of 22nd.
Meanwhile, in the Late Model division, Pitkat raced hard with eventually winner Corey Hutchings and runner-up Ryan Posocco all race long. At the end of 30 laps, Pitkat came just inches short of beating out Posocco for second place.
“That was fun,” said Pitkat. “We changed the set-up last week because it was terrible, but it ran great tonight. We didn't have anything for the leader. He was running on a rail, but we had a good racing going for second place.”
Pitkat returns to action this week with four races on his schedule. He will drive Don King's #28 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour machine and the #99 Hitchcock Pool Water Sunoco Modified at Thompson International Speedway this Thursday, August 14th, and the #52 TSI Harley-Davidson/The Davidson Company SK Modified and the #7 ECI-Cliff Nelson Chevrolet at Stafford Motor Speedway on Friday night.

Woody Pitkat had a mixed week on the short track of Connecticut last week. He got rained out on Thursday night in the Sunoco Modified division at Thompson International Speedway and then went on to do double duty at Stafford Motor Speedway on Friday night.
Pitkat started 15th in the SK Modified race and made steady progress from there until he was sidelined by a mechanical failure on lap eight.
